Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) persons in Benin may face legal issues not experienced by non-LGBT residents. Same-sex sexual acts for both men and women are legal in Benin according to the International Lesbian and Gay Association's 2009 report, though same-sex couples and households headed by same-sex couples are not eligible for the same legal protections available to opposite-sex couples.

Laws against homosexuality
Same-sex sexual acts are legal in Benin.[1] Same-sex sexual acts were previously illegal for both men and women, with a penalty of between one and three years in prison and a fine between 100,000 and 300,000 francs (150 to 300 euros).[2]
Recognition of same-sex relationships
There is no recognition of legal rights for same-sex couples.[3]
Discrimination protections
There is no legal protection against discrimination based on sexual orientation.
Living conditions
A pro-LGBT Anglican group was established in Benin in 2006.[4]
